Steven Porter is a New Hampshire-based reporter for The Boston Globe, where he digs into stories that matter to Granite Staters. He came to the Globe after launching Granite Memo, a website and newsletter about New Hampshire politics. Before that, he was an assistant editor for USA TODAY Opinion, where he solicited and edited columns and op-eds, wrote editorials and managed a grant-funded project on qualified immunity, police accountability and building safer communities. He served previously as Maine editor for the USA TODAY Network, overseeing The York Weekly and York County Coast Star and writing and editing for Seacoastonline. Born and raised in Marion, Ind., Steven earned degrees from Indiana Wesleyan University and the Northwestern University Medill School of Journalism.
